About Emily Riggs
Emily N. Riggs, LISW-S, RYT, PMH-C, is a licensed clinical social worker, supervisor, consultant, and educator licensed in Ohio, Colorado, and Florida. The founder of Emily Riggs Therapy & Wellness, she specializes in supporting women to navigate the emotional complexities of life transitions and traumatic experiences, including infertility, the perinatal period, and complex trauma, with particular attention to the nuanced experiences of women of advanced maternal age.
Emily brings a passionate, relational approach informed by advanced training and certification in EMDR and perinatal mental health. Her clinical work is grounded in an understanding of how identity, attachment, reproductive history, and societal narratives intersect during the transition to parenthood later in life. She is deeply invested in examining both the strengths and the often under-recognized emotional vulnerabilities that can accompany advanced maternal age.
In addition to her clinical practice, Emily is developing a focused research agenda exploring the psychosocial and mental health experiences of women who become parents at 35 and older. Her interest in this area is both professional and personal; as a mother who entered parenthood later in life, she is committed to advancing research, clinical discourse, and compassionate care that accurately reflects and honors this growing population.
